When to take an instrument out of use

A loose or unwinding rattan, a crooked tube, a rattle, a crack, a note out of tune, a broken piece, tiny holes or fine powder, or mold.

Nothing is repaired in the classroom. Put a red out-of-use sticker round the instrument's upper post, note it in your Maintenance Log (Appendix A), and tell us below.

Holes, powder or mold?

Keep the instrument sealed in a plastic bag and tell us. We reply with what to do.

Keep the bag sealed. Usually, freeze the sealed bag for about a week, then dispose of it, still sealed. If the insect cannot be identified from your photograph, contact us.

Where the lot code is

On the instrument's tracking label ("Made in Indonesia · lot · date"). If the label is worn, every instrument's lot code is on the set record in your kit.

What happens next

We reply from hello@indonesiaclassroom.com. Nothing is sent back to us. If the fault is covered, your school receives a replacement of the same pitch.

Report a problem

One report per instrument. Photographs of the instrument only, please, with no children in them.
